Theatre Lawrence’s 2026-27 season will offer a mix of classic adaptations, contemporary musicals and character-driven dramas.
The season begins in September with “Pirates! The Penzance Musical,” a reimagined take on the Gilbert & Sullivan opera set in 1800s New Orleans. The production blends Caribbean rhythms and French Quarter flair with a new book by Tony Award-winner Rupert Holmes. Performances are scheduled for Sept. 11-13 and 17-20.
In October, the company will stage “Lizzie,” an all-women rock musical exploring the 1892 Lizzie Borden case. The production runs Oct. 22-24 and is not part of the regular season.
For the holidays, “The Wizard of Oz” will run Dec. 4-6, 10-13 and 17-20, bringing the classic story and songs to the stage in a family-friendly production.

As the new year arrives, “On Golden Pond” opens as a romantic comedy, centered on an aging couple reflecting on love and memory at their summer home for the 48th year. Performances are set for Jan. 29-31 and Feb 4-7, 2027.
Next, a concert staging of “The Light in the Piazza” is scheduled for Feb. 19-21. The musical tells the story of a young woman’s romance in Italy and her mother’s struggle to reconcile love with a long-held secret. This production is also not part of the regular season.
In March, “Conscience” examines the life of U.S. Sen. Margaret Chase Smith and her stand against McCarthyism. The drama runs March 12-14 and 18-21.
The season continues in April with “The 39 Steps,” a fast-paced, comedic adaptation of the Hitchcock thriller, running April 16-18 and 22-25.
Finally, the season will close with “Come From Away,” the Tony-nominated musical based on the true story of a Newfoundland town that sheltered thousands of airline passengers after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Performances are scheduled for June 4-6, 10-13 and 17-20.
Early bird season tickets are available through Sunday, June 7 via the theatre’s website at theatrelawrence.com/26-27-season, and prices will increase Monday, June 8. Tickets to individual shows will be available starting Monday, Aug. 3.
