Lawrence community members are invited to wear green, white or red and come create a living Algerian flag at Stan Herd’s latest earthwork.
Herd and his team created the massive Algerian flag on the quarter-acre site near Iowa Street and Bob Billings Parkway behind the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive.
The event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the flag.
“To make the shot clean, we’ll group by color: green shirts on one side, white shirts on the other, and our boldest reds in the center to form the crescent and star,” the Facebook event page from L’Algérie fi Kansas City says.
There will be food, drinks, pastries and music, according to the page.
“Come with your family, your friends, your flags. We’ll gather together and bring the whole thing to life for a drone shot from above,” according to the page. “… Let’s show the World what l’ambiance Algérienne really looks like. 1, 2, 3… Viva l’Algérie!”
