A new retail and event space, The Peoples Market, is opening on Ninth Street in Lawrence with a focus on local vendors, events and shared use.
The space will include handmade goods and wellness products from local artists and small businesses, along with workshops and community events.
In a news release, organizer Monique Mercurio said the market is intended to function as a gathering place where residents can connect with local entrepreneurs and creatives.
The grand opening is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at 846 Illinois St., Suite A.
In addition to retail, the venue will be available for private rentals such as meetings, parties and other events. The space will also offer access to local caterers and event planners, as well as artist-led activities for children’s birthday parties.
