Community members are invited to assist with a prairie restoration workday at the Midco Prairie in downtown Lawrence.

The event is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 at the prairie, 210 E. Seventh St.

The park is taking over an unused lot next to Midco, incorporating native plants with the work of several local artisans and offering community members a chance to step into the role of stewards of native land.

“Join us in planting a new native park for the community in Downtown Lawrence,” Native Lands Restoration Collaborative posted on their website. “Education and tools provided. Everyone is welcome!”

Those interested in attending can RSVP to [email protected] for details and updates, according to the website.
