Gov. Laura Kelly has appointed current Judge Pro Tem Blake Glover as the next Douglas County District Court judge.
Glover, of Baldwin City, fills the vacancy left by the April 2026 retirement of Judge Sally Pokorny.
“I am honored to be selected by Governor Kelly as the next District Court Judge in Douglas County. I grew up in this community, and I could not be more excited for this opportunity,” Glover said in a news release from the governor’s office. “I look forward to serving our citizens as Judge Pokorny did — treating all those before me with respect, fairness, and fidelity to the law.”
Glover has been a judge pro tem since January 2022, according to the release.
He previously owned his own law practice in Baldwin City, and served as the city attorney from January 2018 until he became a judge pro tem. Prior to that, he was an assistant district attorney in McKinney, Texas.
“Judge Blake Glover has a breadth of experience in civil and criminal law, both as an attorney and as pro tem judge in Douglas County,” Kelly said in the release. “This experience and his deep commitment to the rule of law will be an asset to Douglas County, and I look forward to seeing him continue his public service on the bench.”
The other two candidates the nominating commission advanced for the governor’s consideration position were Paul Klepper, of Lawrence, a judge pro tem in Douglas County District Court, and Krystal Vokins, of Lawrence, assistant training director for the Kansas Board of Indigents’ Defense Services.
