Kansas Department of Transportation crews will close three sections of Wakarusa Drive separately over the next few months for work connected to the Kansas Highway 10/South Lawrence Trafficway expansion project.
First up, starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, crews will close Wakarusa Drive between Clinton Parkway and the entrance to the Miller Mart convenience store for about 45 days. People will be able to access the businesses from the south during the closure, according to a Friday news release from KDOT.
Next, crews will close Wakarusa between the Miller Mart entrance and Stoneback Drive for another 45 days.
“During this closure, access to Miller Mart can be made from the north. Stoneback Drive can be accessed from the south and Aberdeen Apartments can be accessed from the east entrance at Ranch Street,” according to the release.
Finally, crews will close Wakarusa between Stoneback Drive and 27th Street for up to 90 days, during which time drivers can access Stoneback Drive from the north, according to the release.
“No detours will be posted during the closures, and motorists will need to use alternate routes,” according to the release. “All project work and traffic changes are conditions permitting and subject to change.”
