The city is closing lanes on Sixth Street and some other arterial streets, plus Douglas County has closed a section of the Lawrence Loop path for maintenance.

West Sixth Street from Lawrence Avenue to Kasold Drive
Contractors will close the northern, or outside, westbound lane of West Sixth Street from Lawrence Avenue to Kasold Drive starting Tuesday, Sept. 29. The work is part of a larger Sixth Street project.

“These items were not finished immediately after the project’s completion due to right-of-way restrictions associated with the World Cup,” according to a city newsletter.
The work should wrap on Friday, Oct. 2.
Lawrence Loop section closed
The Lawrence Loop is set to be closed between Naismith Creek and Haskell Avenue for three weeks as Douglas County adds warning indicators near uneven concrete joints.
The county maintains the loop between Michigan Street and Haskell Avenue, while the city is responsible for the rest, according to the newsletter.
West 23rd Street from Naismith Drive to Ridge Court
Google Fiber contractors will close the outside westbound lane of West 23rd Street between Naismith Drive and Ridge Court on Monday, Sept. 28 to install fiber.
The city says the closure should end Friday, Oct. 2.
West 27th Street between Iowa and Louisiana streets
Currently, the westbound lane of West 27th Street is closed for a mile between Louisiana and Iowa streets as part of the city’s 2026 street maintenance program.
The city plans to reopen that lane on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and then close the eastbound lane for the same stretch.
The city expects the eastbound closure to end in late October.
