Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical is inviting the community to provide feedback on the department’s upcoming strategic plan, and to visit stations during open house events.
“Your feedback helps us understand the needs, priorities, and expectations of the community we serve,” the city’s community engagement page for the project states. “By completing our Community Survey, you’ll help guide future goals, initiatives, and investments that strengthen fire and emergency medical services throughout Lawrence and Douglas County.”
An online survey is available through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30 at this link.
The department will also host open houses at fire stations to give folks a chance to “engage with our department and chat further about the work we do in the community,” according to the website.
Open houses will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on the following Saturdays:
• Oct. 10: Station 3, 3708 W. Sixth St.
• Oct. 24: Station 5, 1911 Stewart Ave.
• Nov. 7: Station 2, 2128 Harper St.
• Nov. 21: Station 1, 746 Kentucky St.
All are welcome to attend, and no registration is required. The open house for Station 4, 2121 Wakarusa Drive, was held Saturday, Sept. 26.
According to the online timeline for the project, the department aims to get the strategic plan created, published and adopted by this winter. LDCFM’s 2021-2026 strategic plan can be found at this link.
