Community members will have an opportunity to offer their ideas, opinions and needs about Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center during two listening sessions set for Thursday, Sept. 29.

This is the second year in a row the center has hosted listening sessions for the public, said Jeff Burkhead, communications manager for the center.

“It’s our goal to collect opinions, feedback, and ideas, which will be used to inform the efforts undertaken by BNC team members and leadership to make the community mental health center a place for excellent care and to strengthen the overall health and wellbeing of the community,” Burkhead said via email. “We will ask attendees what they think the BNC is doing well and what areas we could improve on to lead to better client experiences.”

Format for the one-hour sessions is casual, and attendees will be asked questions to spark conversation. Emily Farley, director of community engagement, will facilitate the discussion. Marissa Boyle, organizational excellence coordinator, and Tim Nolte, data quality analyst, will also help guide the sessions.

Those with direct or indirect experiences with the center are invited to offer feedback either in-person or via Zoom, but prior registration is requested. Sessions will begin at noon and 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the center, 200 Maine St.

To register, access this link. Select the time and how you will join. Refreshments will be offered to those who attend in person. Zoom attendees will receive a link to join the meeting prior to the listening session. Direct questions to Emily Farley, director of community engagement, via email at efarley@bertnash.org or by phone at 785-830-1745.

The center also launched its annual client and family satisfaction survey on Sept. 6. The center asks all of its clients to complete the survey and uses the results to learn how they view program-specific care, Burkhead said.
