Lawrence City Commission candidates will share their platforms and positions on local issues during a forum Saturday morning.

There are eight candidates running for six seats. The Aug. 1 primary election will eliminate two of the candidates. The remaining six will face off in the Nov. 7 general election. See the full list of candidates at this link.

The Douglas County Democrats are hosting the forum, but commission seats are nonpartisan.

The forum is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St. The doors will be open for networking starting at 9:30 a.m. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the public is encouraged to attend.

It is too late to register to vote in the primary election, but not too late to request an absentee ballot. The deadline to request a ballot to be mailed to you is Tuesday, July 25.

Douglas County voters can check their voter registration and/or request an advance ballot by mail at KSVotes.org. Learn more about voting in Douglas County at this link.
