The Lawrence Times is a new option for local news,
coming soon to Lawrence, Kansas.

This startup online publication is still in the works.

We have some big, exciting ideas to overhaul the way local journalism has traditionally been handled. We want to make sure we get it right before we launch the Times.

You can help make it happen. Click here to find out how.

Some initiatives we have in progress:

We’re inviting some key Lawrence leaders to join our community advisory board to ensure that our coverage is strong and representative of our readers and their values, and that our business plan is as equitable and just as possible. We’re seeking out people who can help us find stories that might otherwise never be told, and we’re looking to center voices that have not always been heard.

We’re working behind-the-scenes on this website (often into the wee hours of the morning), prepping it to make logical sense and to be user-friendly and fun.

We’re looking at options for making this outlet sustainable. We want to foster a healthy work environment where journalists can flourish and focus on doing what they do best — telling the stories that you need to hear. But that takes money, so we’re looking at all of our financing options with an open mind.

We’re constantly brainstorming ideas and gathering information on the stories we want to tell and the innovative ways that we hope to tell them.

And we’re taking occasional moments to reflect in awe of the incredible outpouring of support and encouragement we’ve already received.

What was so recently just an impossible dream is beginning to come true, and it wouldn’t be possible without you.

Thank you for keeping us motivated by showing us how badly you want this, and thank you so much for your support, Lawrence.
