Five women who filed a civil rights lawsuit against Wyandotte County and a list of former KCK police brass say they will appeal a federal judge’s dismissal of their case.

A former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective was arrested Thursday by federal agents on a six-count indictment alleging repeated sexual assault of two women while leveraging his position as a law enforcement officer to perpetrate the crimes.

As a federal grand jury investigates Roger Golubski, a former KCKPD detective, FBI documents dating back to the 1990s reported police beat Black people routinely, were said to be involved in the drug trade and ignored the crack cocaine problem. One FBI effort was dubbed “Tarnished Star.”
