An overnight shelter space that opened Saturday evening to ensure folks would have a warm place to sleep is now closed “until the need arises again.”

An overnight shelter space that opened Saturday evening to ensure folks would have a warm place to sleep is now closed “until the need arises again.”
Lawrence is forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of additional snow, but unlike the weekend blizzard, it’s not expected to be accompanied by freezing rain and strong winds.

After all highways in northeastern Kansas were closed Sunday in response to the blizzard, state roads and highways are beginning to reopen. Lawrence streets may still be difficult to navigate, according to police.

The National Weather Service in Topeka received several reports of snow totals in Lawrence following Sunday’s blizzard. The highest was a total of about 11.5 inches.
