The City of Lawrence will conduct a nationwide search for the next chief of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical. In the meantime, Joe Hardy will be serving as acting chief.

After just more than two years with the department, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Chief Rich Llewellyn is stepping down from his position, according to a news release from the city on Monday.

Tom Fagan, who served as interim chief of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical starting in December 2021, has been selected as chief of the Marion, Iowa Fire Department, the city announced Friday.
