The Raven Book Store, Watkins Museum of History and the many editors and collaborators for the new “Embattled Lawrence” book are joining forces to host a release celebration for the new installation.
During a Tuesday event, a professor will share an account of two Native American men, one of them local to Lawrence, who fought in World War I and are connected by a postcard discovered a century later.

When Dennis Domer retired a few years ago as a KU professor of architecture, he knew he couldn’t just use his newfound free time to go fishing. Instead, he decided to embark on a much bigger project: compiling a major new history of Lawrence.

People of the Munsee Tribe in Kansas have started a cultural preservation project and series of events to protect archival materials and educate residents of Douglas, Franklin, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte counties about the history of their tribe in those areas.
The Earth Day Fair will bring crafts, live music, presentations and educational activities to South Park on Saturday.

A local exhibit takes viewers through the years of Haskell Indian Nations University, from its origin in 1884 as a boarding school to its role as the sole intertribal university in the country.
Following a major renovation process, the Kramer Family Research Room at the Watkins Museum of History is open to the public by appointment.
Kids will have an opportunity to do a range of holiday crafts from around the world at the 10th annual Watkins Museum Tails and Traditions Holiday Festival.
