“Officers and personnel with LDCFM arrived on scene and discovered an older female who was deceased. There were no immediate signs of foul play,” Ernst said.

Julie Boyle, spokesperson for the district, addressed the incident in an email to Schwegler school families.

“As some of you may have heard or seen, shortly before dismissal time today several first responders arrived in Schwegler’s south parking lot in response to a report of a medical emergency involving an individual in a parked vehicle,” she wrote. “Emergency vehicles have the south parking lot partially blocked as police investigate this matter.

“I’m sorry, we do not have any other information at this time since this is an active investigation. We understand and share your concern for those involved. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” Boyle’s message continued.

In response to our request for updates Wednesday afternoon, Boyle said, “We too are sad for those involved. There is no known connection between this individual and the school.”
