“No further information is available at this time, pending notification of his family,” George Diepenbrock, spokesperson for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, said via email. “The Sheriff’s Office offers condolences to his family and friends and thanks all responding agencies who assisted this afternoon.”

A game warden with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks responded around 3:15 p.m. Saturday to help find a man who was swimming on the southeast side of Clinton Lake. The man had been on the lake with friends on a sailboat, Diepenbrock said.

DGSO had boats involved in the search, along with first responders from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical, Consolidated Fire District No. 1 of Douglas County, the Lawrence Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol, Diepenbrock said.
