Lawrence police are investigating after finding skeletal human remains in a wooded area south of Bob Billings Parkway just east of Kansas Highway 10, according to a social media post from the department.

“About 12:30 (Monday) afternoon, the man who found the remains went to a nearby convenient store to call police,” according to the post.
“The remains are skeletal. Evidence allows us to feel confident they are human remains but no foul play is suspected at this time. We’re working with forensic experts to try to identify the victim as the investigation continues.”
No further information was immediately available Monday.
