The two-vehicle crash occurred at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, according to a social media post from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

A preliminary report from the Kansas Highway Patrol says Stacey Sexton, of Lawrence, was southbound on the highway and crossed the center line for an unknown reason just south of the Bob Billings Parkway interchange. Her vehicle struck a straight truck driven by a 40-year-old Lawrence man who was not injured, according to the report.

Sexton was flown to the University of Kansas hospital in Kansas City with suspected serious injuries, according to the report. She and the other driver were both wearing seat belts.

Traffic was being diverted onto Bob Billings Parkway for the crash investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. The highway had reopened around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday.
