The Kansas Food Truck Festival will not be held this year, but organizers are working with the city and partners to bring it back in summer 2024, according to their Facebook post.

“Due to the logistical challenges with running a food truck festival in Lawrence, we have made the decision to not force an event this year,” Friday’s post stated.

The festivals have been among the biggest fundraisers for Just Food, the Douglas County food bank, and quite popular since they began in 2014. A former leader of the organization said the festival’s first-year attendance had more than tripled the number she expected.

Prior to the festival’s return in 2022, organizers hadn’t been able to hold one since 2019.

“We understand that this news may be disappointing for many of you, but we hope that you will continue to follow our social media pages for announcements about future events,” the Facebook post stated. “We promise to keep you updated as we work on creating an unforgettable food truck festival experience for everyone.”

Those who want to help make the event happen can reach out to Brett Hartford, executive director of Just Food, at brett@justfoodks.org, according to the post. Follow the Kansas Food Truck Festival on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
