Sunrise Project, a Lawrence nonprofit designed to build community through social connection and food equity, is hosting its eighth annual plant sale fundraiser this month.

Attendees can wander the greenhouse and choose from 60 organic varieties of vegetables, herbs, and native plants and flowers. Each plant costs $5, and organizers are offering a “buy 10 plants, get one free” deal. Proceeds benefit Sunrise Project’s programs, including a porch pantry, free community meals, youth programming and community garden.

This episode of Lawrence Times TV features the first installation of the two-part event.

The public can attend the second plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 29, at the Sunrise Project building, 1501 Learnard Ave. Melissa Freiburger, executive director and co-founder of Sunrise Project, says everyone is welcome.
