The driver of a propane truck suffered suspected minor injuries in a crash Monday afternoon in the 800 block of North 1800 Road, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol.

As of 2:40 p.m. Monday, DGSO and Kansas Highway Patrol responders were on the scene of the single-vehicle crash, according to a news release from DGSO.

The driver of the semitrailer, which was hauling a 9,500-gallon tank of propane, was taken to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka with suspected minor injuries, according to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. He is a 46-year-old man from Napoleon, Missouri, according to the report.

The crash report says the driver was traveling eastbound, and for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the roadway on the right-hand side, coming to rest in the south ditch. The tank was not damaged in the crash.

“Drivers in the coming hours should use an alternate route as law enforcement has closed N 1800 Road in the area between Kansas Highway 10 and E 800 until the vehicle and propane is safely removed,” according to the release.
