Cameron Renner, a 20-year-old from Topeka, was the person shot and killed early Saturday in Lawrence, according to police.

“Investigators still need your help in making an arrest in the case,” Lawrence police said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Police received several calls just after 1 a.m. Saturday reporting sounds of gunshots in the area of 24th Street and Cedarwood Avenue.

“Officers arrived on scene and began speaking to witnesses but found no victim,” according to the release. “Officers also proactively dispatched to the hospital and witnessed a car speeding into the Emergency Department entrance.  Officers pulled a male victim from the back seat, who was later pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.”

Police said in the release that evidence leads them to believe there are more witnesses than those who have come forward, and they may have vital information in the case.

“With the identity of the victim now known and family notified, we hope those who have information will come forward,” the release stated.
