Two local experts will speak Sunday on how you can restore a bit of native prairie to your own backyard.

The event aims to educate attendees on how to help native pollinators and wildlife; add self-sustaining beauty to landscaping; sequester carbon and more, according to an informational flyer from organizers.

Speakers will be ecologists Courtney Masterson and Frank Norman.

Masterson is executive director of Native Lands Restoration Collaborative, “a charitable organization that empowers diverse land stewards to protect and restore resilient native ecosystems through community education,” according to the flyer. Norman owns Norman Ecological Consulting LLC, which helps individuals and companies ecological restoration, rare plant surveys and more.

The event is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lawrence building, 1263 North 1100 Road. It’s free to attend, though “love offerings” to support the speakers’ work are appreciated.

The event is hosted by Good Earth Gatherings.
