A man was found dead near Clinton Lake and a woman was taken to an area hospital early Saturday morning.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office had received a request for assistance from the Lenexa Police Department.

Lenexa PD asked DGSO to help locate two people believed to be near Clinton Lake, George Diepenbrock, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said via email Saturday morning.

Around 1:50 a.m. Saturday, deputies located the vehicle on the north side of the spillway, Diepenbrock said. The area is near Mutt Run Dog Park.

“The Sheriff’s drone team searched the area and was able to locate a heat signature on the bank of the creek,” Diepenbrock said. “In the area they found a woman, and a man who was deceased.”

Medics took the woman to an area hospital. Diepenbrock did not share further information about her condition.

“The Sheriff’s investigations team and the Douglas County Underwater Search and Recovery team is currently processing the scene,” Diepenbrock said.

Diepenbrock could not confirm whether or not investigators suspect foul play. He said the sheriff’s office had no further information to provide Saturday morning.
