The Granada Theater in downtown Lawrence is celebrating a big milestone, and it’s inviting the whole community to the party.

The Granada, which was originally constructed in the 1930s as a silent movie theater, is celebrating 90 years, and 30 years as a music venue.

The all-ages Get Downtown Block Party is free for all to attend, though there will be drink tickets for sale. It will benefit Downtown Lawrence Inc., the “nonprofit organization dedicated to the enrichment, preservation, and promotion of Downtown Lawrence as the cultural and commercial heart of the community.”

The event will feature live music and entertainment, kids activities, and more than 20 craft beers, wines and spirits available for purchase, according to a news release from event organizers.

The party is set for 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street.

The theater invites people to share photos or memories of The Granada via email to media@thegranada.com.
