Would you like to send a letter to the Times? Great! Here’s how to do it.
Opponents of the proposed Kansas Sky Energy Center say they are not against renewable energy in Douglas County; they just think it should be located somewhere else.
Where? Where can they find 1,100 contiguous acres of flat land in the County with no “prime farmland” in it? Who owns that land? Will the owner be willing to site a solar facility there? Will those who live in the environs of the project welcome it?
Alas, it seems when it comes to renewable energy projects, the best place always seems to be “somewhere else.”
Thank you for your consideration.

Shawn Alexander: The new year, with apologies to and inspiration from Langston Hughes (Column)
”Let us see and hear in the new year the faint voices captured in the Kaw and all ancient rivers ‘older than the flow of human blood in human veins’ that are carrying the calls and dreams of a more hopeful, peaceful, tolerant, and just world,” Shawn Alexander writes in this column.
