A new student-run coffee shop and cafe will soon hold a grand opening at Haskell Indian Nations University.
Cedar and Sage Cafe, named through a student contest, “represents a significant step in Haskell’s efforts to enhance campus facilities and provide new amenities for its community,” according to a news release from the university.
“The café will provide a hands-on learning environment where student workers can gain practical experience in key areas of business operations, including menu development, customer service, pricing, inventory management and daily operations,” according to the release. “Proceeds from Cedar and Sage Café will directly benefit students — supporting wages for student workers and providing supplemental funding for student activities.”
The cafe, located in in Stidham Union, will offer a variety of options including coffee, smoothies, iced coffee, pastries, sandwiches and more, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to launch this exciting new space on campus,” Mackie Moore, dean of Haskell’s College of Business, said in the release. “Besides being a community connection and relaxation hub, Cedar and Sage Cafe will create meaningful opportunities for student employment and growth.”
Students will be in training for a soft opening on Tuesday, and a grand opening celebration is set for Friday, Jan. 24, Moore said.
Planned hours for now are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, though those may expand based on customer feedback and demand, according to the release.
