Douglas County first responders pulled the body of a 20-year-old Olathe man from Clinton Lake Monday morning.
The Underwater Search and Recovery team was dispatched to the lake around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after people reported that a boater had tipped over in a kayak, went into the water near the marina and not resurfaced, according to information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders suspended the search around 9 p.m. Sunday because of darkness, but they resumed Monday morning.
“Divers located the body of the kayaker in an area near where witnesses reported he went under water,” according to a Monday update from the sheriff’s office.
“The Sheriff’s Office offers condolences to the man’s family and friends,” the statement said.
The sheriff’s office had not released the man’s name as of the time this article was published.
