With Saturday night’s tie against Austria, Algeria is headed to the round of 32 in the World Cup and will face Switzerland this week in Vancouver.
The Granada will host a free watch party for the Algeria match on Thursday, July 2, in the parking lot next to the former Einstein Bros. building at 1026 Massachusetts St., as well as inside The Granada and Lucia.
Gates open at 6 p.m., with kickoff scheduled for 10 p.m. The event is open to all ages and will feature music, food trucks and local vendors.
The venue will also host a street party in the 1000 block of Mass Street ahead of the USA vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina match on Wednesday, July 1. Gates open at 4 p.m., followed by the watch party at 8 p.m. That event is also free and open to the public.
“It’s been incredible getting to host three of our cities’ six official World Cup community celebrations,” said Emily Taylor, marketing director at The Granada. “We’re committed to hosting the biggest watch parties we can for as long as USA and Algeria are still alive in the tournament.”
