The Lawrence Farmers Market will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary with a 1970s-themed event with live music, tie-dye, tattoos and more.
Farmers, bakers and vendors will be at the market alongside anniversary-specific activities, including 50th anniversary merchandise, photo booths and a cake walk.
The event will run from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at 824 New Hampshire St.
Attendees can get flash tattoos from Best Friend Tattoo for $80, with designs featuring local foods grown in Kansas. Temporary tattoo options will be available for those not interested in permanent art.
The market’s 50th anniversary merchandise will be a special edition, 1970s-inspired design. There will also be live music with ‘70s hits and a tie-dye station.
The farmers market will highlight vendors and the market’s history on their social media leading up to the event and National Farmers Market Week, which runs from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8.
