With two days of the Lawrence Humane Society’s Clear the Shelter event down, 150 animals have found loving homes.

There’s still time for folks to find a pet while adoption fees are waived. Clear the Shelter continues from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30 at the shelter, 1805 E. 19th St.

Clear the Shelter is a nationwide effort to get shelter animals, including cats and dogs, into homes by waiving all adoption fees.

Typically, it costs $150 to adopt adult dogs from LHS, $300 for puppies, $60 for adult cats and $125 for kittens. This year marks the first time the shelter has stretched the event over three days.

Of the 150 animals adopted thus far, 98 have been cats and 52 have been dogs.

LHS waived adoption fees early for some of the more bashful babies whose true personalities wouldn’t shine in the midst of the big event. Seven of those animals were adopted. Then, 54 pets were adopted Friday and 89 Saturday.
