Jaiden James Kohart, 17, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026. Born in Salina on October 4, 2008, to David and Jennifer Kohart, Jaiden was a remarkably gifted, intelligent, and artistic individual.
To know Jaiden was to know someone who found joy in both the quiet moments and the spotlight. They were a brilliant student, a talented artist, and a vibrant presence on stage with both Theater Lawrence and Theater Salina. While Jaiden found comfort in a simple cup of tea and a great book, their greatest joy came from the people they loved. A hard worker and a loyal friend, Jaiden made a lasting impression on coworkers and patrons alike at Plato’s Closet and Cascade Dental.
Jaiden’s memory will be forever treasured by their devoted parents, David and Jennifer Kohart; sister, Olivia; brother, Gunnar, all of Lawrence; grandmother, Crystal Kohart of Salina; and great-grandmother, Barbara Wasinger of Lawrence. They are also survived by a loving circle of cousins, Ava, Logan, Gabe, Kaysyn, Madalynn, Ashtyn, Korbin, Phoebe, Kash, and Russell, as well as many aunts, uncles, and extended family members. Jaiden joins in rest their grandparents, Bill and Kenda Denison, and Francis Kohart.
A celebration of Jaiden’s life will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather with the family on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6- 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions can be made to Rainbow Kids & Families or HeadQuarters Kansas, c/o Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
