The young artists of Van Go opened their annual Adornment holiday art show and sale to a Lawrence crowd Saturday night.
Adornment showcases artwork by Van Go apprentice artists — Douglas County teenagers and young adults ages 14 to 24 — and allows the young artists the opportunity to sell their pieces. Each fall, the artists create smaller-scale works of art to fill the show, according to Van Go’s website.
The space inside Van Go, 715 New Jersey St., is “transformed into a gallery shopping experience” during the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas to allow in-person browsing and shopping.
The gallery will be up at Van Go through Sunday, Dec. 18. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Online shopping will also be available starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, and it will continue 24/7 throughout the holidays at this link.

Advocates concerned about city leaning on unpaid work from resident of North Lawrence campsite
The task of checking people in at the North Lawrence campsite for people experiencing homelessness falls on resident Jennifer Adams — along with other duties, such as de-escalating problems, distributing donations, and trespassing people when they violate the contracts secured in Adams’ tent.
