After Haskell Indian Nations University’s spring powwow was postponed amid forced, baseless employee terminations, the university is now planning a Spring Resilience Powwow.
The Spring Welcome Back Powwow was delayed from its original planned date in February after the federal government forced the university to terminate about three dozen employees on Feb. 14.
Grand entry for the Spring Resilience Powwow will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at Coffin Sports Complex on Haskell’s campus.
Manny King, Northern Cheyenne, will serve as master of ceremony. Steve Byington, Delaware, will serve as arena director.
Darrell Hill Jr., Oneida, Menominee, from Tama, Iowa, will be head man dancer, and Sara Bointy, Kiowa, Dakota, Enrolled Comanche, from Lawrence, will be head lady dancer. The Haskell Veterans Association will serve as the color guard.
All drum groups, singers, visiting royalty, alumni and the public are invited and welcome to attend. There will be a giveaway for spring 2025 Haskell students.
