A current career and technical education teacher and coach at Olathe South High School has been named the next assistant principal of Free State.

Adam Myer will begin his position July 1. He’s taking over the position left vacant by Tina Mitchell’s move to a district-level position, director of equity and student and family engagement.

“Myer has taught CTE courses and coached football, wrestling, softball, and track for schools in Olathe and Lansing, Kansas, and Everman and Millsap, Texas, for 12 years,” according to a district news release Tuesday announcing Myer’s selection. “He earned a bachelor’s degree at Abilene Christian University and his master’s at the University of North Texas.”

He said in the release that the Lawrence school district is known for its “high expectations, educational excellence, and strong sense of community.”

“I’m incredibly grateful and excited to join the dynamic Firebird team and look forward to supporting staff and students while contributing to Free State’s culture of excellence — in the classroom, in competition, and in the community,” Myer said in the release.
