Two people displaced after house fire in central Lawrence

Two adults have been displaced as the result of a fire at a home just southwest of 21st Street and Naismith Drive.

The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. Sunday at a single-story home in the 1400 block of West 21st Terrace, according to a news release from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical.

Crews got the fire under control by 3:27 p.m., according to the release. The fire was still under investigation as of just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

“Mutual aid, from Douglas County’s Consolidated Fire District No. 1 (CFD1), was received to assist LDCFM with the fire,” according to the release. “LDCFM had emergency response units on 4 other incidents during the time of dispatch for the structure fire.”

The people who were displaced are working with the Red Cross, according to the release.

There were no injuries to responders reported, and no one was transported for treatment, according to LDCFM.
