People who need some help with court forms, understanding court processes and finding resources will now be able to get that help at the Douglas County District Court’s Legal Self-Help Office.
James McCabria, chief judge, shared early plans for the center in June 2022. He said he had asked court staff to compile a list of the most common questions they receive, and when he saw the lengthy list, he was immediately convinced that the court needed a self-help center.
The office is open to the public, located on the first floor of the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, 111 E. 11th St. It’s next to the court security screening area, according to a Wednesday news release from the county.
The office’s hours are 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, according to the release.
