KU extends athletic director’s contract, will double his annual salary

Kansas Athletics will pay a rental fee of $100,000 for each of the two football games it plans on hosting at Sporting Kansas City’s stadium during the upcoming season. Details on the cost of games at Arrowhead have not yet been disclosed.
Kansas Athletics has signed an amended contract with football coach Lance Leipold, who is now set to make more than $8 million through April 2025.
Kansas Athletics hired four law firms and spent $10 million to handle an NCAA investigation that dragged on for six years. In one month alone, more than 15 lawyers at four firms around the country worked on the case.
The Kansas Jayhawks are bowl winners, going 9-4 on the season. The Jayhawks faced the UNLV Rebels in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix, winning 49-36.
The Jayhawks fell to the Wildcats Saturday in KU’s last game at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in its current form.
There will be flyovers in Lawrence Friday and Saturday ahead of the KU football team’s Salute to Service game against Texas Tech University.
The KU football team has topped No. 6-ranked Oklahoma and improved to 6-2 on the season.
Jets will fly over the KU campus Friday and again Saturday morning ahead of kickoff for the homecoming football game.
KU is celebrating its 111th homecoming this week, and numerous events are planned on the theme of “Rah Rah Jayhawk.”
