Lawrence Transit will offer free rides from downtown parking to KU football’s home games this season, with slight changes from previous years’ format.
Transit Routes 4 and 3 will get folks closest to campus, according to an email announcement from Lawrence Transit.
Both routes pick passengers up at the stops at Seventh and Vermont streets, across from the Lawrence Public Library, and on the northwest corner of Ninth and New Hampshire streets.
The stops are both near parking garages, which have free all-day parking on their top levels and $2-per-day parking on other levels.
Route 4 will drop passengers off at Maine Street and Fambrough Drive, near the stadium entrance.
“If Route 4 is at capacity, Route 3 to 9th & Maine is a reliable backup option, just a short walk away,” according to the announcement.
Bus routes will still end at their usual times, so by the time evening games are over, folks needing a ride back downtown could arrange a Lawrence Transit On Demand ride for a $3 one-way fare.
Passengers can schedule rides ahead or request them in the moment. Folks can learn more and download the app to book trips at lawrencetransit.org/on-demand.

KU home games
KU’s home games are set for the following dates; times are included where available:
• 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 vs. Long Island University (flyovers coming up at noon Thursday and at kickoff time on Friday)
• 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 vs. Missouri (border showdown)
• Saturday, Oct. 3 vs. Middle Tennessee
• Saturday, Oct. 24 vs. Baylor
• Saturday, Nov. 7 vs. University of Central Florida
• Saturday, Nov. 21 vs. Brigham Young University
