The Lawrence school board has called a special meeting to complete a midyear evaluation of the district’s superintendent.

The board will meet in a public setting but break into an executive session, or closed-door meeting, to conduct the review with Superintendent Jeanice Swift.

Swift was hired as interim superintendent in the 2024-25 year and is currently serving her first semester as the permanent superintendent.

The state requires evaluations twice a year, or once each semester, for educators in their first two years of employment with schools, according to the Kansas State Department of Education. Evaluation results are not public.

In addition, the board will host a second executive session to discuss personnel matters of nonelected personnel, according to a release from the district.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at the district’s Facilities and Operations Office, 711 E. 23rd St.

Public comment will not be allowed, and the board is not set to take any action following the executive sessions.

The board’s next regular meeting is set for Monday, Jan. 12.
